Marina de Seta is currently a PhD student in Ethics and Creative Writing under the supervision of Dany Rondeau <\/a> at the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Rimouski (UQ\u00c0R), located in Bas-Saint-Laurent, Quebec, Canada, and\u00a0of Sarah Rocheville<\/a>, Universit\u00e9 de Sherbrooke au Qu\u00e9bec, Canada. After completing a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Philosophy in Rome in 2011, she pursued her Master\u2019s studies at the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al (UQ\u00c0M) under the supervision of Julie Walsh<\/a> and Luc Faucher<\/a>. In 2016, she completed her Master\u2019s thesis on the possibility of correcting moral judgments through empathy. The concept of empathy holds a particular attraction in her work. Her main areas of interest include ethics, relationships with living beings, political and feminist philosophy, cognitive sciences, classical and critical phenomenology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her doctoral thesis, she explores the role of empathy in ethics and the possibility of cultivating it through creative writing. Among the major approaches in her research are the philosophies of Martha Craven Nussbaum, Joan C. Tronto, Corine Pelluchon, Donna Haraway, Marielle Mac\u00e9, and V\u00e9ronique C\u00f4t\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marina is also co-founder of the PhiloSitu\u00e9-es<\/a> project (originally called Fillosophie), which aims to promote the presence of non-binary, trans people, and women in philosophy within the research field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
