Marina de Seta is currently a PhD student in Ethics and Creative Writing under the supervision of Dany Rondeau at the Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQÀR), located in Bas-Saint-Laurent, Quebec, Canada, and of Sarah Rocheville, Université de Sherbrooke au Québec, Canada. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy in Rome in 2011, she pursued her Master’s studies at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM) under the supervision of Julie Walsh and Luc Faucher. In 2016, she completed her Master’s thesis on the possibility of correcting moral judgments through empathy. The concept of empathy holds a particular attraction in her work. Her main areas of interest include ethics, relationships with living beings, political and feminist philosophy, cognitive sciences, classical and critical phenomenology.

In her doctoral thesis, she explores the role of empathy in ethics and the possibility of cultivating it through creative writing. Among the major approaches in her research are the philosophies of Martha Craven Nussbaum, Joan C. Tronto, Corine Pelluchon, Donna Haraway, Marielle Macé, and Véronique Côté.

Marina is also co-founder of the PhiloSitué-es project (originally called Fillosophie), which aims to promote the presence of non-binary, trans people, and women in philosophy within the research field.
